Former Redding mayor Dave McGeorge dies after brief illness


He was 84.
McGeorge died Wednesday after a brief illness, the city of Redding announced Thursday.
In addition to being known as Redding s Mr. Big Mac, McGeorge participated in a number of civic organizations, including the Asphalt Cowboys, Sons of Italy, The Exchange Club, the Redding Chamber of Commerce and the Mercy Advisory Board.
Former city manager Kurt Starman said McGeorge gave him his first job.
Dave worked tirelessly to improve Redding, not only during his time as mayor and council member but as an active business leader and community volunteer over the past 50 years, Starman was quoted in a city of Redding news release. ....

Suzie Joe Viera, of Steubenville, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on February 5, 2021 at the age of 60.
She was born in Gary, Indiana on September 20, 1960. After graduating from Martins burg High School, Martinsburg WV in 1978, she attended college at Potomac State and West Liberty Colleges in West Virginia earning a bachelors degree in business. She worked as an auditor for Highmark Blue Cross for a number of years.
She is survived by two dear brothers, Monty Joe Isner (Steubenville OH) and Dannyjoe Carter, and his wife Susie (Las Vegas, NV). She is also survived by her kitties, T’Pau, Keeler, and Khan. She mothered many cats through the years with such creative names as Natasha Anastasia Lucretia Badroulbadour Poo and Ichabod Ebenezer Badroubadour Poo. ....
